WILD ANIMA
Wild Anima is the wild soul, the raw state of nature sleeping inside all of us. The intimate part of our living essence.
Wild Anima (Alex Alexopoulos) is a French-Greek ambient musician and multimedia artist. Her sound work and artistic practices centre around the theme of the ecology of emotions and the intelligence of the heart: healing through nature, meditation and love.
In her recent project Supernatural Experience she uses plantmusic as an invitation to self discovery and communication with the natural world through installations and intimate art experiences taking audiences on a journey of inner photosynthesis.
Her latest creations include healing music created in collaboration with the Heartmath Institute and ambient music inspired by the music and mythology of ancient Greece.
Wild Anima’s releases for British cassette label Blue Tapes won praise from the likes of NTS Radio and The Quietus, who compared her stark, voice-only Blue Twenty-Two to Carlo Gesualdo, William Basinski, Keiji Haino’s Nijiumu, The KLF’s Chill Out, Pandit Pran Nath and even Enya!
“My body of work is part of an ongoing research on the ‘ecology of emotions’, a philosphical study on the heart as a sixth sense and its relationship to the Earth as a whole (see interview “Wild Anima about Mantras, Healing and the Heart as an Oscillator “). My current practice explores how we can heal our broken parts through inner photosynthesis. Inspired by plants, trees and the natural world through the medium of plantmusic. In my recent project Supernatural Experience I work in collaboration with Amaury Bouquet to create immersive installations and praticipatory experiences inspired by tarot, mythology and healing practices of ancient Greece. Past works include the albums Alkhemy (2020) and the film and essay Hidden Eden (2021) co-created with musician Lush Agave in Iceland. “
